Cafeterias: Current SAO employees visiting SI with a valid SAO ID card receive discounts in all public cafeterias within the Smithsonian, except those at the National Museum of American Art and the National Portrait Gallery. Additionally, most of the museums have staff cafeterias or snack bars that offer food at already discounted prices.

Shops: Current employees showing ID cards receive a 20% discount from SI museum shops, catalogs, and the Kodak Processing Center at the National Museum of American History. Most major museums have shops and some have seasonal sales offering wonderful bargains. These sales are open to staff before museum hours and are announced in the Staff Bulletin.

Entrance Fees: Museums worldwide that are not part of the Smithsonian often honor Smithsonian employees bearing valid ID cards with an admission discount. Colonial Williamsburg does the same. Be sure to ask if you are eligible for a discount when visiting other museums.

Subscription: SI employees are eligible for discounted subscriptions to Smithsonian Magazine and Air and Space Magazine.
