The Seventh HITRAN Conference was held 12-14 June 2002 at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge, Massachusetts. There were about 70 attendees, with international representation counting for 33%. Dr. Reinhard Beer, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, was the invited opening speaker. He presented "A User's View of HITRAN", taken with the perspective of a principal investigator for the Earth Observing System project of NASA (he is PI of TES - Tropospheric Emission Spectrometer).
