Tables of mode frequencies, line-widths, asymmetries and amplitudes,
resulting from my fitting are available here.
Using the same format as the standard JSOC tables, a subset has also been
ingested in the JSOC2 (i.e., the password protected JSOC).
- MediumL/ holds results from fitting MDI, GONG
and HMI at low and intermediate degrees: 0 ≤ ℓ ≤ 200 | 300
(resolved modes), using all the GONG (up to ℓ=200), MDI and HMI (up
to ℓ=300) data available to date.
- HiL/ holds results from fitting MDI, GONG and HMI at
high degrees: 100 ≤ ℓ ≤ 900 | 1000 (derived from ridge fitting), for
selected time series.

Jun 2024, Medium-L
The files in MediumL hold tables of mode frequencies,
line-widths, asymmetries and amplitudes, resulting from fitting
individual modes for 0 ≤ l ≤ 200|300 using MDI, GONG and HMI
observations.
All the tables have been updated as follows, and ingested in the JSOC:
- Jun 18 2024
- More GONG tables for 36d, 01e, 01e.sym, 02e & 05e,
- More HMI tables for 36d, 01e, 01e.sym, 02e & 04e.
- See the list of available tables.
- Mar 21 2024
- More GONG tables for 36d, 01e, 01e.sym, 02e, 04e & 08e (Mar 12),
- More HMI tables for 36d, 01e, 01e.sym, 02e, 04e, 05e, 05e.sym & 08e.
- Jan 19 2024
- More GONG tables for 36d, 01e, 01e.sym, 02e & 04e,
note that the most recent GONG data has poor duty cycle due to lack of data from multiple stations.
- NEW: tables resulting from fitting 10e, or 720-day long time-series,
all the available data (GONG, MDI & HMI) have been fitted for 10e time-series.
- Dec 6 2023
- More HMI tables for 36d, 01e, 01e.sym & 02e.
- May 3, 2023
- More HMI and GONG tables for 32x.
- Apr 12, 2023
- More GONG tables for 36d, 01e, 01e.sym, 02e & 04e.
- More HMI tables for 36d, 01e, 01e.sym, 02e, 04e, 05e, 05e.sym, 08e & 16e.
- Jan 4, 2023
- More GONG tables: 128e, i.e., 128x 72-day =
9,216-day long fit, for 5 leakage matrices and using an asymmetric mode profile, and 1
leakage matrix when using a symmetric mode profile.
See "Precision and systematic errors in global helioseismology mode fitting
and inversions: Leveraging some 25 years of nearly uninterrupted observations",
by S.G. Korzennik, published in Frontiers in Astronomy and Space
Sciences (DOI: 10.3389/fspas.2022.1031313).
- All the tables have been re-processed using version 7 (v7.x) of the
procedure that converts singlets (νn,ℓ,m) to
multiplets (νn,ℓ) and expansion coefficients.
- The actual fitting of individual modes was not redone or changed. Only
the computation of the expansion coefficients was updated, the latest
version does a much better rejection of outliers than v6.x.
- The tables of coefficients for expansion in m are available
for 6, 9, 18 or 36 coefficients and for two normalizations:
Ritzwoller
& Lavely 1991 or
Schou
et al. 2002.
- The tables include ℓ=0 modes, as well as more ℓ=1
modes than before.
- The website was reorganized with better (unique) file names and more
subdirectories.
- Time series of various lengths have been fitted, starting with 36-, 72-
and 360-day long abutting time series and with lenghs increasing in a factor
two progression, namely time series that are 144-, 288-, ..., up to 128x
72-day long ones, with a 50% overlap in time whenever possible.
- All the tables have been converted to the Stanford format and ingested
into the password protected JSOC (aka JSOC2) using Schou's
m10qr file format for compatibility. These are
su_sylvain data series.
March 2013, High-L
The files in HiL hold tables of mode frequencies,
line-widths, asymmetries and amplitudes, resulting from fitting
full-disk observations, for 100 ≤ l ≤ 900|1000 resulting from ridge
fitting, corrected to produce mode estimates.
Observations from all three instruments (MDI, GONG and HMI) for three
Dynamics epochs were analyzed:
Instrument | Year (length, days) |
MDI | 2001 (90d) | 2002 (98d) | 2010 (67d) |
GONG | | 2002 (98d) | 2010 (67d) |
HMI | | | 2010 (67d) |
The exact same epochs were fitted for each instrument for each year, as
determined by MDI's full-disk images availability, only the fill factor is
different.
