During the course of the year, SWAS is presented with an ever changing
view of the galactic plane. For the first year of the mission,
the emphasis was largely on exploratory observations of a wide variety
of targets.
Each December, SWAS returns to the orbital configuration that it had at launch.
Targets visible to the satellite at the beginning of the mission
become available for observation once again.
We have made a transition into
an observing mode where we are making more detailed studies of particular
objects (that is, deep integrations and mapping operations), as well as
continuing to observe new objects as they become available.
