Research

My areas of research are helioseismology, asteroseismology and exo-planet detection.

Helioseismology
- Study of the solar interior using the properties of the solar oscillations.

My current main interests are:

  • precise mode fitting at low and intermediate degrees
  • fitting at high degrees
  • the solar rotation and its variation with the solar cycle
  • time-distance helioseismology, and its reliability around active regions.

Asteroseismology
- Study of stellar interiors, by measuring stellar oscillations.

Carried out seminal work using radial velocity with the AFOE on bright stars.

Exo-planet detection
- Detection of planets outside our solar system.

Carried out seminal planet detection work with the AFOE instrument, using precise radial velocity techniques.

Current interest: to contribute to the deployment of a new generation of wavelength calibrator, known as astro-comb laser, to push the radial velocity well below the cm/s.

Tables

A large set of tables of mode parameters resulting from my fitting methodologies are available.

You will find:

  • mode parameters at low and intermediate degrees: 0 ≤ ℓ ≤ 200|300 (i.e., resolved modes), using all the GONG, MDI and HMI data available to date, and
  • mode parameters estimates at high degrees: 100 ≤ ℓ ≤ 900|1000 (based on ridge fitting, but then corrected from ridge to mode estimates), based on 90, 98 and 67 days of MDI, GONG & HMI observations, corresponding to MDI's 2001, 2002 and 2010 Dynamics epochs, respectively.
The tables for low and intermediate degrees were last updated on Sep 20 2022.
