2:00-4:00 Opening Roundtable discussion chaired by Noah Riskin. Using light as an integrative theme, the opening roundtable will explore a historical perspective on current artistic and scientific trends; Cronkite Living room.

4:30-6:00 Lecture/demonstration on art authentication by Walter McCrone, the microscopist who dated the Shroud of Turin and the Vinland map; Science Center.

8:00-10:00 Contributed performances: Sharon Glassman will present a monologue about the 18th century Italian female physicst Laura Bassi; Prof. Elaine L. Bearer, a biologist and a composer of music at Brown University will lead a discussion/demonstration on relationships between music and the natural world; Pratt Conference Room on ground floor of Harvard College Observatory.

Friday, October 20

10:00-11:00 Gallery talk by Australian artist Peter Cole followed by reception for the opening of his exhibition: Carpenter Center ground floor gallery.

11:00-12:00 Gallery talks by artists Michael Hardesty and Robert Dell: Carpenter Center.

8:00-10:30 Concert by Chris Finckel on technologically designed strings with discussion by instrument maker Carleen Hutchins, founder of the Catgut Acoustical Society; Paine Hall, Admission $10 at the door.
