Infrared  - WISE

This view of the sky comes to us from the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE).  Blue and cyan show infrared light at 3.4 and 4.6 µm (10-6 m), which is dominated by light from stars. Green and red show light at 12 and 22 µm, which is mostly light from warm dust.  Together we can see the stars that are responsible for ionizing HII regions and the gas and dust that make up the HII region and ambient medium.
