Abby’s 3rd Birthday Web Site

Abby looked forward to her third birthday for many months, for three main reasons.

  1. The Birthday Walk (12/8/00) at the Cambridge Montessori School. Each year on his or her birthday, a CMS Purple Room student gets to walk a circle, holding an Earth globe, around a "Sun" candle. During this symbolic ritual, the teacher (Holly) talks about all that’s happened in the child so far, and about what he or she hopes to do in the future. Abby’s walk was all she’d hoped it would be!
  2. The Pachinko Machine (12/9/00) As Edward wrote in Abby’s card, some kids ask for ponies, others for ballet slippers… not Abby. She saw her very first pachinko machine at the Red Barn Gallery on Martha’s Vineyard last summer. Little did we know she’d never forget it and want that as a birthday present! Her parents (who also love pachinko) were happy to oblige…
  3. The Party (12/10/00) To Abby, this pretty much was her birthday. The 9th (her real birthday was nice), but to her, the party = birthday. 22 of her friends and littlest relatives joined in the fun, where she re-created the Shady Hill Fair, with the events featured below.
