The Miriad command inp is to inspect the inputs of a task, as well as to select the task, e.g. smalod, type
 miriad% inp smalod
Miriad will show the parameters of the task along with the values, if any, previously set. If the first time Miriad is run, then no values are assigned to the parameters, for exmaple:

  out =
  rxif =
  restfreq =
  options =
  rsnchan =
  sideband =
  nfiles =
  nscans =

and will replace the miriad% prompt with a task prompt
