Hi Vivien,
Thanks for calling for the IDL programmer meeting.
The invert problem described in your bugReport is related
to the INCONSISTENCES between IDL output and Miriad output
discussed in today's meeting.
In the SMA beta Miriad for debugging, we have a subroutine
to check the header variables and stop further processing if
problematic variables are detected. One can diable this
function if has confidence in his/her uvdata. The same issues
have been raised by other IDL users
(http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/sma/miriad/download/QandA/GlenPetitpas2012jun28.html).
Here is the usage of invert,
invert vis=grb_u.uv,grb_l.uv options=systemp,nochk cell=0.2 imsize=256
sup=0 map=grb.map beam=grb.beam

Dear Vivien,
Thank you for submitting bug report via SMA software
bugReport system. The problems that you described below
were reported by Eric Keto. In genral, the problems were
caused by inconsistence in software management; we have responded
Eric Keto,

Within an half hour, we will have IDL programmers' meeting to
discuss the IDL problems and find a way to solve them,

Description: Polarization data: 120809_03:14:49 (4GHz)
Visibilities are generated from IDL/MIR. Several issues:
1. uvflag with edge keyword leads to Segmentation fault.
2. invert halts without error messages, eventually quit with no outputs. However, miriad4 from the carma repository seems to work (built with option --with-telescope=sma).
==== Comparison case of polarization data 070810_05:07:05 (2GHz only passband) using smalod to generate visibilities works well with either the SMA beta version or the carma repository version
