December 14, 2022: Applications are open!

Applications for the 2023 Submillimeter Array Interferometry School are now being accepted, details of which can be located on the registration page. All interested applicants are invited to apply. Applications will be accepted until January 30th, 2023 at 10 AM EST (1500 UTC). Applicants will be notified of their status by the end of February.

The school will be held in person at the Center for Astrophysics, in Cambridge, MA from 15-19 May 2023, with limited space for virtual participation. The workshop will provide a series of lectures focusing on the fundamentals of radio interferometry, with a special emphasis on the Submillimeter Array (SMA) interferometer and its new capabilities. The school will also extensively utilize the SMA, located on Maunakea, providing a hands-on experience of performing observations and data reduction for projects proposed by school participants.


October 25, 2022: First Announcement

The Center for Astrophysics, in conjunction with the Academia Sinica Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics and the University of Hawaii, is organizing the 2023 Submillimeter Array Interferometry School.

The school will be held in Cambridge, MA from 15-19 May 2023. The main goals of the school are to provide advanced undergraduates, graduate students, post-docs, and scientists outside the field with a broad knowledge of interferometry and data reduction techniques at (sub)millimeter wavelengths.

The workshop will provide a series of lectures focusing on fundamentals of radio interferometry, with a special emphasis on the Submillimeter Array (SMA) interferometer and its new capabilities. The school will also extensively utilize the SMA, located on Maunakea, providing experience with performing observations, with data reduction training utilizing projects proposed by school participants.
