The universe rapidly expands and cools, but is still fiery hot.
It contains only the simplest chemical elements, mostly hydrogen
and helium. You can see the first hints of structure beginning
to form. These slight clumps of matter will grow in size
as their gravity attracts nearby matter. This is the earliest
light we can detect in the universe.
