ASTRAEA
Project ASTRAEA (Accessible Stargazing Techniques, Resources, and Activities for Educators in Astronomy) was funded in 1995 by the Smithsonian Institution within their NASA Initiative to Develop Education through Astronomy (IDEA) grants program. It was an intensive 10-day workshop in astronomical observing for middle and high school teachers. Participants made naked eye and telescope observations of the sky, sketches of the Moon, and studied the effects of light pollution by observing from dark backcountry and urban areas.
