The Local Star Formation Rate Density
Measured from the 8-micron
Galaxy Luminosity Function
and
IRS Spectroscopy of an ILLBG in EGS

One tracer of star formation in galaxies is the
PAH emission feature at 8 microns. A complete galaxy sample
in the Bootes field gives a local star formation rate density
of 0.027 M_sun yr-1 Mpc3 at an effective redshift of 0.24.
We will also present Spitzer/IRS spectroscopy of an IR luminous Lyman-Break Galaxy (ILLBG). |
