Hectochelle, commissioned at the MMT in Dec 2003, is fiber-fed,
multiobject echelle spectrograph with a spectral resolution
R=32,000-34,000 that collects 240 simultaneous spectra. We will provide
a technical description of the Hectochelle and supporting facilities,
hopefully elucidating the broad scientific capabilities of this new
instrument and provoking new ideas for scientific applications of
Hectochelle. We further describe several scientific programs in
progress utilizing the Hectochelle to illustrate these capabilities
and discuss plans to optimize and enhance the power of Hectochelle in
the future.
