The Physics of Stellar Atmospheres and Winds:
What Mira models have taught us
Dr. Lee Anne Willson (Iowa State University)
After reviewing the history of modeling of pulsating star atmospheres
through the last half-century, I will proceed to describe the
ingredients needed for successful models for different purposes, and
show examples. An analytic understanding of some cases provides
further insight. Ultimately, this work provides the impetus for the
project I have been working on this year, a different kind of "stellar
atmospheres" textbook.
