An Investigation of 48-inch Telescope Image Quality
Brian McLeod, CfA
Abstract
An intensive investigation into the poor quality
of images produced by Mt. Hopkins 48-inch telescope has revealed
several problems including collimation drift, spherical aberration,
and high order errors in the primary mirror.
I will discuss the results of the investigation,
and the measures that would be required to solve the problems.
