SN 1997cy, A GRB in Supernova's clothing?
Abstract
Over the past 32 months, the
Abell Cluster Supernova Search
has discovered 50 Supernovae in directions towards Clusters between
0.02 < z < 0.08. Of these SN 1997cy is the most peculiar, with a truly
unique spectrum, and a luminosity at least a factor of 3 higher than
any other object discovered. I will discuss this object, its apparent
coincidence with GRB970514, and speculate how such a supernova might fit
into the puzzle of GRB observations.
