The Structure of BAL QSOs
Dr. Patrick Ogle, MIT
Abstract
I will discuss the polarization properties of broad absorption line
quasars (BAL QSOs), and what we can learn about their structure from
their polarization spectra. The relatively high polarization and
polarization distribution of BAL QSOs is consistent with their
unification with non-BAL QSOs. Line polarization measurements also
indicate that the BAL outflow has a small global covering fraction
and is confined to equatorial or intermediate latitudes.
