Updates to 60 Garden St. (7/27/20)

HVAC
Our HVAC system has been in continual service with the exceptions of when we scheduled shutdowns in order to change filters, check and PM the air handlers. The building filters were changed in the early days of the building closings in March going from Winter to the Summer seasons. Due to the length of time we have been in this state we have repeated the changing of building filters (Merv 13's ) again as we begin Phase 2. All dampers have been exercised and are working properly 15-20%.
We are in the process of testing bathroom ventilation systems as well as the installing of Ionization units on our air handlers.
Signage
There are quite a few signs posted throughout the complex for reminders and awareness to all as we adjust to these new changes and guidelines.
Common Areas
As of now common areas have had furnishings removed and or spaced out for social distancing. All common area microwaves have also been removed at this time as well as units from the kitchenettes in Perkin & C-Building.
Water coolers are still in their respective locations and ask that we are not refilling small neck bottles so there's no contact. There are Kim wipes close by to all coolers so there's less hand contact on the spickets and cups.
We have set up the Pratt and Fish Bowl areas as places people may go for breaks & lunches. There will be cleaning material at these locations so end users may clean off their table before and after using them.
As we move forward with Phase 2, we plan to expand and use the A-Class room as well as the Phillips Auditorium.
Bathrooms
All bathrooms at the Observatory are single use, in which I remind all to use the locks that have been installed. All of the bathrooms have touchless paper towel dispensers, and at least one touchless soap and faucet installed. We plan to expand these units once the product is available to us.
We have installed Kim wipes as you enter the bathrooms so there is less contact upon entering and leaving. There are charts installed that our cleaning staff will begin to sign daily as they check on the bathrooms throughout the day.
General Information
The Perkin elevator is single use and has Kimwipes both inside and outside at each floor so there is less contact. These wipes are being put in place throughout the complex close to the corridor door as you pass through areas with door handles.
At present we don't have directional corridors or stairwells, but ask that you follow guidelines and common courtesy when passing each other.
Hand sanitizer and towels will be placed near copy machines, vending machines and will be serviced by our cleaning staff as needed.
All office waste and recycle containers are to be placed outside of the offices at the end of the day for our cleaning staff to tend to. This has worked well for our labs and we will continue with this plan for the time being.
