SAO COVID-19 Telework Guidance, March 16, 2020

As per Charles Alcock, and in accordance with Secretary, SI, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Smithsonian is strongly encouraging supervisors to maximize opportunities for staff to work remotely, which will likely be from home.
Effective Monday, March 16 through March 30, 2020:
- SAO-Cambridge staff with telework agreements and staff who have the capability to work remotely and are in the process of completing a telework agreement, are strongly encouraged to coordinate via email or phone with their supervisors and work remotely.
- Staff without the technical capability to telework are also strongly urged to work remotely, and should coordinate with their supervisors and contact Laura Conway on Monday (lconway@cfa.harvard.edu, (617) 495-7373) for guidance. Steps will be taken in coordination with the CF to assess telework capability.
- Staff who must be on site to perform essential work (e.g., Chandra operations controllers, shipping/receiving, etc.) should report to work. If a supervisor believes that specific work is essential, please contact the Director's Office for guidance.
- Staff who are performing work that can only be performed on-site (e.g., work in laboratories) should contact their supervisors who should coordinate with the Director's Office to determine the best course of action.
- Staff in Arizona and Hawaii with telework agreements are strongly encouraged to coordinate with their supervisors and work remotely. Others should take immediate guidance from the site director and further guidance will be provided.
